Advocacy for policy and systems change.
LGBTQIA+ people face homophobia, transphobia, heterosexism, and social isolation. Many in our community are doubly or triply impacted by racism, displacement, lack of stable housing or employment, healthcare discrimination and other issues that lead to long-lasting healthcare, housing, and well-being inequities.
We work with community partners, leaders, and elected officials to effectively build power and pass policies that advance economic opportunities for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC community members.
2026 Legislative Priorities
Queer Power Alliance advances policies that protect bodily autonomy, community safety, and collective power for LGBTQIA+ people, especially trans people, queer people of color, immigrants, sex workers, and unhoused community members.
Trans & Queer Liberation
We defend the right of transgender students to participate in school sports without fear of retaliation, harassment, or forced outing. We fight to uphold and strengthen the Safety Act, ensuring schools are safe, inclusive, and affirming spaces where trans and queer students can belong and thrive.
Housing Justice
We fight against the criminalization of unhoused people and push for policies that protect queer and trans people, especially youth, elders, and disabled community members, from punishment for living outside. Housing justice means dignity, safety, and the right to exist without harassment, displacement, or policing.
Democracy & Civic Power
We support passing ranked choice voting in Washington State and advancing fair, accessible voting practices that expand participation for queer, trans, immigrant, and marginalized communities. A just democracy is one where every vote counts, and no one is excluded through suppression, intimidation, or systemic barriers.
Worker Rights & Economic Justice
We are committed to ending violence, stigma, and criminalization against people in the sex trade while advancing worker protections for all, including immigrant and undocumented workers. Queer and trans workers deserve safe working conditions, fair wages, and freedom from exploitation and surveillance across all forms of labor.
Surveillance & Privacy
We oppose surveillance practices that disproportionately target queer, trans, immigrant, unhoused, and criminalized communities. Our legislative priorities center on protecting personal data, limiting government and institutional surveillance, and ensuring people can access services, housing, education, and civic life without fear of monitoring, retaliation, or harm.

The Collaborative, made up of Queer Power Alliance and community partners Entre Hermanos and POCAAN, is building a sustainable network of LGBTQ+-led organizations and LGBTQIA+ community members that use an equity-centered, collective impact framework to advance systems and policy changes. Our focus is towards housing, health, economic, gender, and racial equity for LGBTQIA+ communities in South King County, with a particular focus on those living in White Center, Renton, Kent, Federal Way, Auburn, Burien, Des Moines, SeaTac, and Tukwila. We will use a collective impact framework that centers equity, and together we will support to:
1. Identify collective priorities and establish a common agenda.
2. Coordinate shared measurement of data.
3. Establish mutually reinforcing activities to maximize results.
4. Leverage community power to advance systems and policy changes toward housing, health, economic, and racial equity with and for LGBTQIA+ communities in South King County (SKC).

At Queer Power Alliance, we believe that LGBTQIA+ communities deserve access to safe, affordable housing and healthcare, stable and equitable incomes, and the ability to live free from discrimination, violence, and threats. We are committed to creating a world where individuals can thrive with dignity, security, and the resources they need to lead fulfilling lives.
