Gender Justice

Creating Inclusive and Affirming Spaces

Gender justice ensures that transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive people are safe, affirmed, and able to live fully and authentically. It calls for systems, policies, and cultural practices that respect and protect people of all gender identities and expressions.

Across our programs, we challenge discrimination, uplift lived experience, and advocate for inclusive practices in schools, workplaces, housing, healthcare, and public life. We work alongside community members to strengthen protections, shift institutional culture, and expand access to affirming resources.

By centering those most impacted by gender-based harm, we cultivate environments rooted in dignity, belonging, and collective care. Our work supports long-term transformation so transgender and gender-expansive communities can thrive.

Talk Gender to Me Workshop

Queer Power Alliance has extensive experience implementing Talk Gender to Me, a gender-identity-based training. Our expertise includes working with organizations to develop guidelines, practices, and procedures for implementing gender equity initiatives and to provide training through a social justice lens. We have worked with companies, community-based organizations, and government entities.

To meet the unique needs of an agency’s employees and to increase their knowledge and skills related to gender identity, we propose the following overarching goals:

Goal 1: Provide foundational knowledge of sexual orientation vs gender identity.

Goal 2: Increase participants’ awareness and understanding of transgender and non-binary employees within the workplace.

Goal 3: Strengthen participants’ ability to apply the skills to foster transgender-affirming environments.

Training Approach

We are committed to dismantling systems of oppression. The gender binary (male and female) upholds white hetero supremacy and works to create hierarchies within the structure of dominant white culture. Acknowledging how gender impacts our relationships and how we treat one another underscores the importance of using accurate language to honor people as their whole selves and supports our efforts to question and interrogate systems of power.

Participants will learn about the language and terminology associated with gender identities and how to use them correctly and respectfully. They will also learn the importance of creating a supportive and affirming environment.

The training design supports participants in guiding conversations with colleagues about gender equity and inclusion. The Queer Power Alliance will work with the agency to inform the design and development of the training plan. By the end of the program, participants will have a deeper understanding of gender identities and have the tools and skills needed to create a more inclusive workplace for transgender and non-binary people.

Talk Gender to Me is a valuable investment for businesses looking to create a more welcoming and supportive work environment for all employees.
